Powassan Ride Report

Forgot the report…

We had 15 ATV’s come out for Saturdays ride. The rain did not come out until later in the afternoon. We all met at the car pool on hwy11 and made our way to the parking spot in behind the golf course. At 9:35am, our lead, Michael Constant and tail Art Constantineau had a meeting with all the riders and we headed out going north on the great trails of Powasson/Bonfield. We made a stop at the turn we were supposed to take, but part way down the trail, it was flooded out as we had learned earlier that week, that it was impassable. So we headed along some back roads and detoured south of Bonfield and back on to the trail at Grand Desert Road. We then ventured down to see the impassable part to see if anyone wanted to try it. We had a couple of members walk out into the water, and it was up to their waste. Nobody ventured out until we were ready to leave. 2 members tried and made it be alright. Made it up a very rocky hill and on the way to Guilmette Lake for lunch, the leader of the ride made a mistake at a puddle and ended up swamping his bike. So, a couple of other members tried it and had the same result. After lunch, we turned around and headed for a clear look at the old fire lookout from the beach just beside Pioneer Road. We left there and headed to the only accessible lookout. It was a great site with the mist coming out of the forest. Everyone was a little wet and cold, so we called it a day. A nice 60km ride and a great time was had by all. See you at the next ride.

Thanx,

Michael Constant
